Turelio's Hobby Hoard

The gang's all here! And it only took a year... Oh well, I finally got my old Haqqislam models painted up. With a colour scheme stolen from some form of electric rodent, these I've been knocking round my brain for a while, and my painting desk for the last year or so. It's been good to get them finished up, and I got to try a few things along the way. These were another chance to try out the NMM paint set Vallejo did, which comes with a guide written by Angel Giraldez. I was also curious about the sketch style which has been shown on Contrast Miniatures, so gave it a go on these. I need to work on that a bit more, but while I was aiming for tabletop standard, I'm happy with how these turned out. The Fiday was my favourite to paint. I liked the pose and the chance to do a few lens and visor parts, and the knife was going to be a fun one to mess with for NMM. I'm slowly getting there with NMM, and know what I need to do next time to get a bit better, which is alway...

Apologies for the lack of updates lately. After prepping for PAX Aus, attending, travelling back, then getting back to getting my life in order, back to work, and being knocked around with hayfever, I've had very few chances to blog. Anyway, this is a quick shot of my next project - some Haqqislam models from Infinity by Corvus Belli. I'm planning on trying out the Sketch Style of underpainting (See Contrast Minis for a better description than I am able to give) to see how quickly I can get them done. These have been sitting on my desk for a while, and even if they are quick models to test out a style on, it will by fun to at least get some more progress on them, as well as try out a new technique to see if it is something I want to try using more in the future. 

So, as part of my lead up to shoulder surgery, I spent some time prepping models to paint when I was better, as well as generally helping to get through some of the backlog of minis I have lying around ready to be used for stuff.  First up were some Haqqislam models from Infinity. I have had these sitting around a long time, as they were in the same demo kit I got my hands on a while ago where my Yu Jing models are from. While it's not the basing style I had originally planned for them, I still like how they turned out. They are a nice change to the Yu Jing models. These ones are a bit chunkier, but still have some nice lines to them. My experience with the Yu Jing models was that while Infinity models seem intimidating at first, they are no more difficult to paint than other models, and lend themselves to to some simple yet effective colour schemes with room to have fun.  Progress left until painting: I have to fill a few small gaps on some models, and they are rea...
